Entry requirements

Whether you are looking for undergraduate or postgraduate study, DMU Cambodia should be the first choice for local and international students choosing to study a UK degree. 

This is a guide to the normal entry requirements to join DMU Cambodia. Our Admissions team will study your application, so make sure you include your academic background and personal information when you apply. Each university application is considered on its own merit.

Undergraduate entry requirements

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

As part of the selection process the Admissions team will consider the following

Your Qualifications + English Language ability + Personal Statement

1. Qualifications - Year 1

Cambodia Qualifications or Equivalent

  • A final overall pass grade in their Diploma of Upper Secondary Education.

OR

UK Qualifications

  • 5 GCSE/IGCSE’s at A*- E, or two GCE A levels (grades A- E), or three GCE AS levels (grades A-E)

OR

  • International Baccalaureate
  • International Baccalaureate IB – a minimum of 20 points
  • International Baccalaureate IB – Middle Years Programme – 28 points with a minimum grade of 3 in each component

2. English Language - Year 1

Applicants will also need to meet De Montfort University Cambodia's standard English language requirements. Please note, your test results must be dated within the two years immediately preceding the start date of your course.

IELTS: 5 overall (with a minimum of 5 in each component)

PTE Academic: 40.8 overall (with 40.8 in each subtest)

TOEFL iBT: 35 overall (with a minimum of 18 in R; 17 in W&L; 20 in S)

Pre-sessional courses

If you do not yet meet the English language requirements, pre-sessional courses will be available at our Centre for English Language and Learning (CELL) to prepare students for study at De Montfort University Cambodia. These courses develop your skills in academic reading, writing, and critical thinking, listening to lectures, speaking in seminars, and delivering presentations. At the end of the course, you must take an English competency test.

3. Personal Statement

As part of the selection process we will ask you to submit a short statement in English to describe your ambitions, skills, and experience. Your personal statement supports your application to study at the university. It’s a chance for you to say why you’d like to study a particular course or subject, and what skills and experience you possess that show your passion for your chosen field. 

Postgraduate entry requirements

Holders of a good bachelor degree from a university will be considered for direct admission to postgraduate diploma or masters programmes.

We normally expect student to achieve an overall 'good' grade. We appreciate that the marking schemes in universities in can differ. If your undergraduate degree is graded on the GPA system, we would usually look for a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0, 3.5 out of 4.33, or 4 out of 5.

Work experience is not a requirement.

International applicants will normally hold an undergraduate degree in any subject with a minimum pass of 2:2, or equivalent overseas qualification.

Professional qualifications deemed to be of equivalent standing will be considered on an individual basis.
