DMUC Students Visit Amret MFI: Exploring Microfinance and Financial Inclusion
On 24 February 2026, students from De Montfort University Cambodia (DMUC) participated in an educational site visit to Amret Microfinance Institution (Amret MFI), gaining valuable real-world exposure to Cambodia’s microfinance sector. As one of the country’s leading microfinance institutions, Amret has been operating since 1991, providing responsible lending, savings products and financial services aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting financial inclusion across urban and rural communities.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore how Amret manages its daily operations — from customer relationship management and credit assessment to risk control and digital financial services. Industry professionals shared insights into how microfinance institutions balance financial sustainability with social responsibility, ensuring that individuals, entrepreneurs and small businesses can access the funding they need while maintaining sound financial practices. The experience allowed students to connect classroom knowledge in finance, business and digital transformation with practical industry applications.
The site visit reflects DMUC’s strong emphasis on experiential learning and industry engagement. By interacting directly with professionals at Amret, students gained a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s financial ecosystem and the important role microfinance plays in economic development. Such initiatives strengthen students’ career readiness and reinforce DMUC’s commitment to preparing graduates with both academic excellence and real-world expertise.
