On 4 June 2026, De Montfort University Cambodia (DMUC) successfully hosted its Masterclass, “The Future of Finance in Cambodia: Financial Crime, Industry Expectations, and Career Opportunities,” welcoming a total of 57 attendees from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

The event provided valuable insights into the rapidly evolving financial sector in Cambodia, bringing together industry expertise and academic perspectives to discuss current challenges, emerging trends, and future career opportunities.

The first session was delivered by Mr. Cheameas Chou, FCCA, Senior Manager at Deloitte Cambodia, who shared practical guidance on building a successful career in finance. Drawing on nearly 12 years of experience in audit, assurance, and accounting advisory services, he highlighted the importance of technical skills, professional ethics, adaptability, and industry expectations for aspiring finance professionals.

The second session featured Dr. Jacob Parker-Bowles, Lecturer at DMUC, an expert in financial crime, fraud prevention, and anti-money laundering (AML). With more than 19 years of experience in financial services and risk management, Dr. Parker-Bowles explored the growing challenges of financial crime in Cambodia, the role of banks and fintech companies in combating fraud, and the skills required for careers in compliance, risk, and financial crime prevention.

Throughout the evening, attendees actively engaged in discussions, gained valuable industry insights, and explored career pathways in finance, audit, risk management, and compliance. The event also provided an excellent opportunity for networking between students, professionals, and industry experts.

DMUC extends its sincere appreciation to both speakers for sharing their knowledge and expertise, and to all 57 attendees for making the event a success. As Cambodia’s first British university campus, DMUC remains committed to providing students and the wider community with meaningful learning experiences that bridge academic knowledge and industry practice.
