Students from the International Foundation Year (IFY) Economics programme at De Montfort University Cambodia (DMUC) attended the Border Crisis Briefing for the Private Sector organised by EuroCham Cambodia in partnership with UNICEF Cambodia on Tuesday, 10 February 2026 at Raintree, Phnom Penh. The briefing addressed the evolving Cambodia–Thailand border situation, providing insights into economic impacts, business resilience, and humanitarian considerations relevant to the private sector and regional markets.
During the session, expert speakers from CAPRED, Thalias Hospitality, MAERSK Cambodia, and UNICEF Cambodia shared perspectives on market disruptions, supply chain challenges, and strategies for navigating short- to medium-term uncertainty. For DMUC economics students, the event provided valuable real-world exposure to current economic developments, strengthening their understanding of how geopolitical issues influence business operations, trade, and economic decision-making.
Participation in industry-led events reflects DMUC’s commitment to experiential learning and industry engagement, enabling students to connect classroom knowledge with practical insights from leading organisations. By attending professional briefings and economic discussions in Phnom Penh, DMUC students continue to develop critical thinking skills and global awareness aligned with international higher education standards.
