DMUC Business Pitch Competition Showcases Student Innovation and Strategic Thinking

On 13 February 2026, De Montfort University Cambodia (DMUC) successfully hosted its Business Pitch Competition, where foundation year students demonstrated entrepreneurial thinking, strategic problem-solving, and real-world business skills. The event provided an early platform for students to apply academic concepts in a practical setting, encouraging them to develop confidence in presenting business ideas while addressing real market challenges. Designed to reflect industry expectations, the competition emphasised clarity, innovation, and effective communication aligned with modern business practices.

To maintain a dynamic and engaging format, participants delivered focused 10-minute pitches followed by a 5-minute Q&A session with judges. Foundation year students were guided to prioritise clear problem identification and solution development, mirroring professional pitching standards used in real business environments. Supporting analytical frameworks such as globalisation, internal and external factors, SWOT, and PESTLE were treated as secondary elements to help students streamline their presentations. Financial discussions were simplified to highlight total costs and break-even projections, reinforcing practical understanding of business viability.

The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of industry professionals, including Ms Thon Rithysochen, Innovation and Education Programme Manager at Impact HUB; Ms Kanaya Cham, Investment Analyst at Canadia Impact Fund; and Mr Chris De Silva, General Manager at Hotel KVL. Their expertise provided valuable insights and real-world perspectives, enhancing the learning experience for participants. The event highlighted DMUC’s commitment to nurturing work-ready graduates from the very beginning of their academic journey through experiential learning opportunities that strengthen presentation confidence, analytical thinking, and industry-relevant competencies.
